Civil Discourse in an Age of Outrage

People on a rooftop look out over buildings. Sky background. Text: "STOICON 2025 Engaged Citizenship." Speaker: Diane Kalen-Sukra.

Join us at Stoicon 2025, the world’s largest gathering of modern Stoics, happening Saturday, October 18 (10 am–5 pm EDT). This year’s theme—Engaged Citizenship—could not be more timely.

Across the globe, citizens are rediscovering the moral courage it takes to build flourishing societies. Stoicon brings together an extraordinary lineup of thinkers and practitioners exploring what it means to live with virtue, reason, and civic purpose today, including Michael Patrick Mulroy, James Romm, Brigid DelaneyPhil Yanov, Lisa Hill, Brittany PolatGregory Sadler and many more!

I’ll be speaking on “Civil Discourse in an Age of Outrage,” exploring how Stoic wisdom can cultivate courageous citizenship— the kind that is outspoken yet principled, well-reasoned yet able to listen and understand.

My heartfelt thanks to Brittany PolatPhil Yanov and the Modern Stoicism team for organizing Stoicon 2025 & inviting me to contribute to this vital conversation.
