Consider what is in your control

Let's unpack this wisdom from the great Stoic philosopher Epictetus.

The more we grasp at things outside of our control, the greater psychological stress we face. Such stress can push people out of their resilience zone, where equanimity and the ability to make wise and ethical decisions is lost.

In this case, the very external things that we seek to control, controls us.

Focus instead on what you can control--that is, yourself.

Self-control is the key to a life of peace and freedom.

Self-control is the key to ethical and resilient civic leadership.
