Also remember first responder Andréanne Leblanc (31) who was found dead March 2018, dressed in her paramedic's uniform. She is regarded as seventh victim of the shooting. At the shooters sentencing, a Quebec judge said he was driven by a "visceral hatred toward Muslim immigrants."

While hate crimes in Canada continue to rise in the double digits for the past several years, awareness of the problem lags. A recent poll found that 42 percent of Canadians don’t feel we have a problem with racism in our country.
